From a musical family [her grandmother was a vocalist for the Benny Goodman Orchestra and her grandfather the composer of “The Little Drummer Boy”], Laura Stevenson started with classical training and veered off on her own in her teen by playing with Long Island punk rock collective Bomb The Music Industry. She also composed quieter indie rock/folk songs on the side. Brooklyn-based Laura Stevenson & the Cans will release its sophomore album Sit Resist on April 26.
